Yorkshire is GSP group M, covering North, South and West Yorkshire and the East Riding. It is one of two areas operated by Northern Powergrid.
Agile is a regional tariff: every half-hour is priced from the same national wholesale auction, but the number on your bill is that auction run through values belonging to your distribution area. This page sets out Yorkshire's.
Yorkshire's 2.00 multiplier is the lowest in Great Britain, shared with London and the East Midlands.
At a wholesale price of 10p/kWh that gives 20.0p/kWh off-peak and 33.0p/kWh during the peak, before VAT and the levy discount.
The formula above stops two steps short of the rate on your bill, and those steps are the same in every region. VAT is applied, and a green-levy discount is subtracted.
Both are currently at temporary values. The UK government's relief on domestic electricity runs from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 inclusive, and for the whole of that window the VAT multiplier is 1.0 rather than the standard 5%, and the green-levy discount is 3.34p/kWh rather than 3.5p/kWh. Outside the window the standard figures apply, and the two worked examples above are quoted before either step.
Its 0.72p per-kWh benefit is the lowest of the 14 areas.
The same 10p/kWh wholesale price exports at 10.32p/kWh, or 16.10p/kWh during the peak.
Both formulas were last reviewed on .
Octopus Agile is priced per distribution area, so the same wholesale auction produces a different rate in each of Great Britain's 14 GSP groups. The letter in brackets is the region code the site uses in its URLs - /?region=L for South West England, for example. Each region also has a page of its own, listed below.
