London is GSP group C, the densest distribution area in the country and the one most people mean when they quote an Agile price. It is one of three areas operated by UK Power Networks.
Agile prices are set per distribution area, not nationally. Each half-hour slot is priced from the same day-ahead auction, but the rate you pay is that auction put through values specific to where you live. This page sets out London's.
London's 2.00 multiplier is the lowest in Great Britain, shared with the East Midlands and Yorkshire.
At a wholesale price of 10p/kWh that gives 20.0p/kWh off-peak and 32.0p/kWh during the peak, before VAT and the levy discount.
The formula above stops two steps short of the rate on your bill, and those steps are the same in every region. VAT is applied, and a green-levy discount is subtracted.
Both are currently at temporary values. The UK government's relief on domestic electricity runs from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 inclusive, and for the whole of that window the VAT multiplier is 1.0 rather than the standard 5%, and the green-levy discount is 3.34p/kWh rather than 3.5p/kWh. Outside the window the standard figures apply, and the two worked examples above are quoted before either step.
London has the highest per-kWh benefit of the 14 areas at 1.30p.
The same 10p/kWh wholesale price exports at 10.80p/kWh, or 16.73p/kWh during the peak.
Both formulas were last reviewed on .
Octopus Agile is priced per distribution area, so the same wholesale auction produces a different rate in each of Great Britain's 14 GSP groups. The letter in brackets is the region code the site uses in its URLs - /?region=L for South West England, for example. Each region also has a page of its own, listed below.
